Macquarie Leadership College

How did Macquarie Leadership College begin?

Macquarie Leadership College had very humble beginnings in 2004.  Meeting in an old house on the church property with a small group of enthusiastic students and passionate leaders, those first years were impacting and memorable.

It wasn’t long before the incredible value of the College was realised and God inspired what remains our core statement today, ‘Connecting you to your Future’.

By 2007 the College had firm foundations and experienced a time of growth and expansion.   Matthew 28:19-20 became the scripture to underpin what God was doing in the College.  “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age. “

The College has been through many different seasons since that time.  When Macquarie Life Church completed a building program in 2012, the College moved into new facilities which included Lecture Rooms, a Library and Office space, a far cry from our humble beginnings but a wonderful testament to God’s faithfulness.

Macquarie Leadership College exists because of many dedicated and passionate people who laid down their own lives for seasons in the College.  They have given so much of their time, energy, prayer and hard work to make the College what it is today.  They have been diligent, capable, selfless and integrous. There are so many that it is impossible to mention them all by name.

In my role as the new College Director of Education I would like to honor those who have gone before me:  Alison Wellings, Dianne Southward, Maria McIntyre and Lanai Schamps.

I would like to make an Honorable Mention to Stephen O’Brien who served in the College for many years with a spirit of excellence, helping to shape the culture and set a standard of excellence.

I am excited to see what the years ahead will bring.
